Mangalore: A nation-wide agitation would be held to protest against would be held to protest against the enactment of an anti-Hindu bill called “Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill-2011” going round in its draft form, activists of Hindu Jana Jagriti Samithi (Mass Awareness Committee) thundered here. The Law minister M.Veerappa Moily is from the Coastal region and deemed author of this bill.
Talking to media on Saturday, DK convenor of the Committee, Ramananda Gowda, stated here that the draft bill was the handiwork of Sonia Gandhi-led National Advisory Council, with some social activists like Teesta Setalwad and Asghar Ali Engineer, who aimed at exploiting majority. Hindus, but saying that they were protecting minorities.
The draft bill presumes that only Hindus created communal violence against minorities. Their argument was that only offences perpetrated by majority community on minorities were punishable, but the reverse was not-true. The bill is not applicable to Jammu and Kashmir, where Hindus are in Minority, and yet offences committed against them were not deemed as punishable all these years (since 1990), it was pointed out by R.Gowda.
The bill is structured on a wrong basis that Hindus (in majority) could never be the victims of communal violence, but only perpetrators.
The Committee would distribute pamphlets/wall posters, and conduct signature campaigns, to create Hindu awareness in India.
An angry protest rally will be held on July 5 at 11 Am near DC Office in city, with series of protests planned in Taluks (Puttur, Sullia etc) and Ujire.
Ananth Kamath, L. Gabladka, R.Nayak and some others were present at press meet.
