Mangalore: BJP Corporator R.Shantha led a group of Panjimogaru residents here on Tuesday, at Kulur Junction to protest against “police atrocities” on two innocent Dalit teen-agers who were harassed in regard of a brutal murder case of mother and daughter in city. As the real culprits were absconding, R. Shantha demanded their arrest by the police, who were rounding up innocent teen-agers.
The boys (Sanu and Sunil) had been tortured in a deserted place by some people coming in the guise of policemen, to force them to admit guilt in the murder case, and were later dropped at Bikarnakatte. The ‘police’ came in a car belonging to Hameed, whose wife had been killed  earlier, Shantha pointed out, and asked why they needed that car, when the police dept., had own vehicles to chase and arrest the actual culprits.
At this, protestors raised slogans of ‘Dhikkara’ against the police. A memorandum demanding action against harassment by pretenders, and arrest of the culprit was submitted to city police authorities and civil rights Enforcement Cell, thereafter by the agitated people.
