Mangalore : The Journalist’s Study Centre organized a film screening of ‘Bettada Jeeva’ and interaction with National Award winning director P Sheshadri and Actor Dattatreya at MSW Auditorium of Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work on July 15, Friday.
Speaking to the media and students of the college before screening the movie, Director P Sheshadri said that his first film ‘Munnudi’ had brought him success in Mangalore and telecasted in Prabhath theatres for 5 weeks in 2001.
Since it was film closely connected to Mangalore, he has broke the rule of releasing in Bangalore’s theatre, he released in Mangalore. The profit, which got from here was used to take another print and release it in Bangalore and Mysore theatre later, he said. Hence the film ‘Bettada Jeeva’ will be released now, he added.
Actor Dattatreya, said that the director had gone up beyond the limit to direct this film. Many directors have taken the challenge to direct the film based on B.V. Shivaram Karanth’s novel in same name. But no one could complete it, but Sheshadri completed it, he said.

During the interaction P Sheshadri said that he movie did not have the similar climax as in Karanth’s novel and that the movie did not end as pleasant memories. He also said that he deliberately wanted to leave the audience with some disturbing questions.
Sheshadri then explained the making of the movie Bettada Jeeva and said he did not expect that movie would be such a success.
If I would nore time, I would have given more mature direction on this film, he added.
Speaking on his role in the movie, Dattanna said, playing Gopalaiah’s role gave him immense satisfaction since it was very challenging. Gopalaiah lived as an integral part of the forest and stood out for his leadership quality, he said.
Roshni Nilaya College English department HOD Shobana, Ivan D’Silva of Sahamatha Film Society, Actor Nandaraj also participated in the interaction.
