Mangalore : The DK Zilla Poura karmikara Hagu Nalkkane Darje Naukarara Sangha organized a semi-nude procession from Jyothi Circle to DC Office on July 20, Wednesday.
Addressing the protestors, K Suresh, general secretary of Sangha said that even after repeatedly requesting to regularize the services of 126 daily wagers working in health section of Mangalore City Corporation fell on deaf ears of concerned authorities.
Paura karmikas have been appealing the state government since ten years. But no measures have taken till now, he said.
P Keshava also said that Paura Karmika’s had also staged a ‘begging protest’ in front of MCC on February 26, this year, to draw the attention of government as well as Urban Development Minister, but still the MCC dint considered it, he lamented.
He also said that the karmikas have also submitted memorandum to Deputy Speaker of State Assembly N Yogish Bhat and District In-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar.
The state governemtn is giving crores of Rs for the various communities and infrastructure but not regularize the working condition and education to the Karmikas and their families. The State government do not have any sympathy towards the daily wagers he added.
Honorary President of Sangha Shivappa, Nirmal Kumar, Corporator Appi and others were present.
The leaders of Paura Karmika’s later submitted the memorandum to the DC, and moved procession towards MCC and will submit to MCC Commissioner.
