Mangalore: The Regional transport Authority’s Chairman (RTA) and DK-DC, Dr.N.S.Chennappa Gowda on july 27, relaxed the measures in a notification of 06-04-1993 and permitted KSRTC to play its Volvo buses en route to Mangalore Airport(Kenjaru) from Mangalore Central Railway Station, extended from Bejai KSRTC main bus station.
KSRTC Volvo Buses were prevented from entering the heart of the city hitherto, but not anymore. The RTO, also secretary of RTA, supported KSRTC’S request to extend its route to serve more passengers on way to new terminal airport built at Kenjaru, near Bajpe. The road is cleared.
The Volvo bus now goes through Hampankatta, Jyothi Circle Bunts Hostel, PVS Circle, Lalbagh, Bejai KSRTC, Bondel and Kavoor to the destination at Kenjaru air port. During the return journey,the bus passes kavoor, Bondel, KPT, Nanthoor, Mallikatte, St.Agnes’ College, Jyothi Circle / Bunts hostel, PVS Circle / K.S.Rao Road to Central Rly.Stn..of Mangalore.
The 2 Volvo buses are make 4 trips under permit. These help passengers from Kasaragod to catch flights at airport. Divl.Controller in charge Yashwant Kumar is hopeful of these 4 trips, that they will prove useful to passengers connected to train (down South)services in the long run.
