Mangalore: An practicing advocate Ashwin Kumar (26) died soon after drinking concoction made from the bark of a tree on Aati Amavasya on July 30 Saturday.
Mangalorean follow an old tradition of drinking concoction made Devil’s tree, locally known as haale mara or paale mara. But unfortunately, Ashwin’s family prepared the concoction from wrong tree, due to which whole family fell ill and Ashwin breathed his last.
Reportedly, Ashwin and his brother Brijesh had taken wrong tree bark and their mother Dakshayini unnoticed and prepared it. Dakshayini who had health problem fell ill. Ashwin and Brijesh rushed her to the hospital. Their servant Kashaiah also was admitted to the hospital.
Ashwin, who fell ill on the way died in the evening, but his mother, brother, and servant are out of danger and recovering.
