Mangalore: Dr. K.N Vijayaprakash on Monday (Aug.1) took charge of his new post as CEO in DK Zilla Panchayat at Kottara Chowki office. He was earlier MCC Commissioner, till Sunday last.
Later speaking to the media, the new CEO stated that villages had to be empowered to become self reliant and developing.
Rural areas lagged behind in potential growth, when industri alisation pervaded only urban areas, and workers migrated to larger towns or cities. But urbanistion was equally needed in villages, to prevent migration and slum dwellings by helpless villagers.
The new CEO voted for bringing drinking water, easy roads, cleanliness in public, and rural health to citizens as requirements on priority basis, in DK district. Those villages that remain backward today, would be uplifted. A “ people-friendly governance” is what he wanted. He will accelerate the work in certain departments like PWD and rural roads. He will visit rural areas to implement rural schemes to bring rural areas on par with the suburbs. ADC Prabhakar Sharma from Mangalore has taken over as CEO in Udupi district Panchayat on Monday.
