Mangalore: Karnataka State Devadiga Sangha in association with Dubai Devadiga Sangha organized a scholarship distribution programme for economically backward merit students at Devadiga Sangha Hall in Mannagudda on Aug 7 Sunday.
Chief guest Harish Sherigar, Entrepreneur spoke on the importance of education in today’s life and urged the people to donate for the cause of providing education to the poor and the underprivileged.
During the programme, an amount of Rs. 39,375 obtained as interest from a deposit of Rs. 5 lakh made by Harish Sherigar was distributed as scholarships to the students.
SDM College Principal Dr. Devaraj K. was also another chief guest of the event.
159 students including SSLC, PUC and Degree students from Udupi, Bhatkal, Karkala, and Mangalore obtained scholarships.
President Dinesh Devadiga presided over the function. Vice President Vaman Maroli welcomed the gathering.
Sharmila Sherigar, Veni Maroli, Shekar Devadiga and others were present on the dais.
