Mangalore, August 10: The district members of Janavadi Mahila Samithi (JMS) staged a protest in front of DC Office demanding the implementation of right to food from the government on August 10, Wednesday.
Addressing the protestors, K Lakshmi, state secretary of JMS said that every house must get ration card and get 35 kgs of rice at Rs 2.
She also said that, this system by government has affected the national food security of the country. The central government says that providing ration card to the people will have financial crisis in the country, but when crores of Rs are spent on the 2G Spectrum scam, then the country will not face financial crisis.
The government says that they are working to decrease the population of poverty, but in real terms, they are decreasing the number people itself, by not giving the rights. Today even 5 percent people are not getting ration card.
She also said that Swarna Karnataka is not only the map they have to show to the people, but also must work for the development of poor.
