Hyderabad: The Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy has been re-elected Lok Sabha with a thumbing majority, but cannot become a CM like his father, late Rajshekar Reddy, who looted Andhra iron ore mines, somewhat like Yeddyurappa in Karnataka.
But Jagan has a lot of popularity among MPs Andhra, apart from several MLAs, 26 of whom have resigned their elected seats, in protest against adding the late CM’s name to an FIR filed on Jagan’s disproportionate wealth case. Jagan’s houses and properties in many places were raided by Andhra Lokayukta police.
2 rebel MLAs from Telugu Desam Party (TDB) also sent in their resignations, queering the pitch for N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, present CM in Andhra.
Andhra has peculiar political developments at present. Chiranjeevi, who formed a Party of his own and had 18 MLAs, has joined Congress under Rahul Gandhi, last week. TDP cannot pull its weight with the people, even having Nari Chandrababu Naidu at its helm. The Telengana region MPs/MLAs are separated from rest of Andhra, for a new state.
