Buntwal: Premalatha(45), Anantady Gram Panchayat chairperson, was taken to Kerala jail by the plice across the borders of this state, on Wednesday on charges of a fraud to a person from Bangalore, to the time of Rs.29lakhs, by promising Gold at cheaper rates.
The Kerala police of Kannur Station were helped by local Vittal (Vitla) policemen. Venkatesh Murthy of Bangalore had complained against the woman, through whom he had purchased gold worth Rs.5 lakhs.
The acused later promised the JD-S general secretary (Murthy) of getting gold at cheaper rates here and received Rs.29lakhs in advance.
As she played smart, cheated him, Murthy filed complaints in Bangalore and Kannur. The Vitla police gathered her background connections quietly and nabbed Premalatha, who told SP of DK a different story. She was taken to Kannur under custody. She had vhanged parties earlier in GP.
