Chennai: Two Sri Lankan LTTE criminals and an Indian abettor of their gang, sentenced to death in Rajiv Gandhi murder case, will hang to death in Vellore prison on Sept.9 next, according to local Jailor Aruvudai Nambi. The murder perpetrators to die are Murugan , Saanthan and Perarivalan and the order is from ruling AIA-DMK government to the Jail Superintendent, who will hereafter restrict the movements of the condemned jail birds.
The president of India, Ms.Prathiba D.Patil had already rejected the applications from these culprits for forgiveness of crime or pardon.
Rajiv Gandhi a former PM, was killed in a belt bomb attack by a LTTE gang on 21st May 1991 at Sriperambudur birthplace of Sri Ramanujacharya of Srirangam from where CM, J.Jayalalitha is now elected.
Murugan married Nalini, a fellow convict who was pardoned, because she had a baby girl in jail. There is some resistance to the death sentence(by hanging) of the 3 convicts in DMK circles, which supported LTTE for years until V.Prabhakaran and his gangsters were wiped out in 2009.
