Mangalore:Even a Teachers day(Sept.5 today) cannot spare people from a chilling news of a head-on collision between a speeding passenger service bus and a moving Alto car on the Nethravathi river bridge(1 km long) in Ullal, early on Monday morning, at dawn.
Police confirmed that an Alto car driver, Ashwath had died on the spot, whereas his co-passenger on the vehicle, yahya was hospitalised in a serious condition. Neither vehicle must have stopped on way, nor given room to pass for the other.
Eye-witnesses informed that the tragedy took place at 6.30am, just before the sunrise these days on Monday. The bus driver was anxious and over-speeding on the bridge of a bygone period. The bus bore the name of “Sri Kateel”, playing from Talapady to Mangalore city and tried to overtake another vehicle only to ram against the oncoming Alto car, whose driver died.
Over-taking on a bridge is definitely an offence, in a court of law. The car was totally damaged on its face.
The so-called road accident on a bridge caused a road block instantly for an hour. A case is registered against the Bus driver by Mangalore rural police, for hurrying to kill.
