Mangalore: When most of the teachers from various schools and colleges celebrated the teachers day at Town Hall, While the members of the Karnataka State Pre-University College Lecturers’ Association, DK unit, observed ‘Black Day’ to protest against the apathy of the State Government in fulfilling their demands over pay disparities, in front of DC Office on September 5, Monday.
The pre-university college lecturers of Karnataka have demanded a raise in their pay. The State Pre-University College Lecturers Association will also observe a fast, demanding the Government of Karnataka to equalize their salary of the sixth and fourth pay commission. The association later gave the memorandum to DC Dr N S Channappa Gowda.
Radhakrishna Rao, president of association, said that we had urged the former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to heed to our demands.
He further added that they also went to the education minister regarding this matter. The association is demanding for `14,050 as a basis salary per month. They are currently getting 11,000 per month.
Capt Ganesh Karnik also supported the lecturers in tier protest and accompanied them to hand over the memorandum.
