Riyadh Arabia: It may be a curse, but in advertently for law in Arabia, a court has condemned 3 Mangalorean Muslims who went to Saudi Arabia a decade ago, and were caught in a snare, are condemned by law to suffer a jail sentence for more than 7 years now.
One of the innocent jail birds Fairoz Ullal called a local magazine here from his jail cell this week, and told his story. Two others, Rafiq Bajpe, and Muhammad Nasir, are with him.
They were unable to pay heavy fines for the offences Committed by others who made them scapegoats and escaped from the jaws of law in a Muslim country.
They were falsely accused by local police of running a network of telephone lines illegally, and a case was filed. Due to non-availability of defence lawyers, the 3 youths were fined 3 million Saudi Riyals(Rs3 crores) which they could not pay and were sent to prison, cut off from their shared flat, and Riyadh surroundings, in Biraman, 30kms away from Jeddah in Arabia.
Fairoz Abdul Rahiman Ullal has been in Arabia for 10years, working in cosmetic line. The families of these 3 jailed youths are suffering in Mangalore. The Indian embassy in Jeddah ought to help them out of a mess.
