Mangalore: DKCC Chairman and Bantwal MLA, B. Ramanath Rai accused the BJP government in Bangalore, here on Thursday of doling out meager amounts under ‘ Aradhana’ scheme to backward classes, for repairs of small shrines in 2010-11, releasing only about Rs 72,000 which was not enough to develop local Gudi-Gopuras (tiny temples) of commoners in DK districts.
Each MLA had more than 25 demand applications and no funds were allocated in 2008-09, and very little in 2009-10 as per details obtained from DC’s office, Rai explained.
Rai complained that his Assembly constituency got only about Rs90,000 in 2009-10. In 2007-08, the Government had released Rs.11.25lakhs to each Assembly area. The scheme had been first launched by congress party in power, he pointed out. The deterioration came under BJP rule.
Ullal MLA, U.T.Khader stated that he had 40 applications on hand, for renovation and repairs of shrines. Moodubidri MLA Jain said he had 25 applications. Rai pointed to poor roads in the district and asked the BJP Government to provide funds for better roads immediately as it was a disgrace to DK to walk on bad roads.
