Udupi: A 6.49 acres of land was donated by Paryaya Shirur Math Chief Laxmivara Tirtha to Admaru Math Education Council, for which a function was held to express gratitude here on Friday. Laxmivara Tirtha was presented a citation, and duly honoured with a golden Sri Krishna idol and other gifts.
Replying to the felicitations, Laxmivara recalled that 260 acres of land came to the Sri Math in 18th Century from the Jain Community as a donation. What was given on contract by his guru, he was making over as a donation now of the 6.49acres to Admaru Math. The land is offered in the name of Vibhudhesh Tirth Swami, he added, as he had built educational institutions only.
Dr.V. S. Acharya, senior minister and chief quest, stated that Poornaprajna Institute provided high quality education and was a model to other schools and colleges.
DC of Udupi, Dr. M.T.Reju and Dr. RaviKumar were present. Secretary Dr. K. Hari welcomed Dr. G.S. Chandrashekar thanked the guests.
Laxmivara was brought in a procession from the Sri Math to the venue earlier.
