Mangalore : The Kannada and Cultural Department and Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Committee will jointly organize a ceremony to release a book ‘Abbakka Sankathana’ as a part of Abbakka Utsav at Shri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara Law College on September 17, Saturday at 4 pm, said senior littérateur Amrutha Someshwar.

Speaking at the press meet held at  Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy office on September 12, Monday, he said that the committee wihich was formed in the year 1997 has organized eight ‘Abbakka Utsav’ so far.

He also said that as one of the honourary chiof editor of the book, the other editors are Prof A V Navada, Dr Vaman Nandavar, Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Dr Shaila, B M Rohini, M Vasudev Rao, D N Raghava and Abdul Azeez Haq also worked for the book.

The 400 pages book contains the details of eight ‘Abbakka Utsava’, introduction of Abbakka Award Winners, History, historical documents and various other information, he added. The book has been printed with 100 colour pages and Dr B A Vivek rai has written the preface for the book.

District in charge minister Krishna J palemar will inaugurate the event. Dr N Vinaya Hegde, chancellor of Nitte University will preside over the event.

Senior theatre artiste Dr B Jayashree will release the book on the occasion. Dr B A Vivek Rai, Visiting professor at the Wurzburg University, Germany will thank the writers and Dr Amrutha Someshwar will brief on the4 book.

Deputy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Dr Palthady Ramakrsihna Achar, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and Mayor Praveen Anchan will participate as the chief guests on the occasion.
