Thiruvananthapuram: Where as everybody in Kerala and elsewhere in India is curious about the huge wealth (cash, gold and valuables) found in 5 Kallaras (vaults) in the ancient Aantha-Padmanabha Temple under Travancore dynasty, the Supreme Court wanted a count and enlistment of all the wealth for safety purposes. The question of opening the 6th vault ‘B’, which had signs of danger in case of disobedience by looters and any curious authority to look into its contents, remained unsolved between superstition and danger(which needed security), keeping in mind age –old customs in vogue at the Temple that attracted large scale attraction as a treasure land. The division bench of Supreme Court argued for security over ancient beliefs to safeguard wealth which was of no use to society in poverty.
The court, however, has respected the outcome of ‘ Devaprasna’ that warned of a catastrophe if vault ‘B’ was forcibly opened. The Royal family did not allow Videography of God’s own riches.
