Mangalore: It is a story of perseverance in spite of all failures and a golden lesson for failing students not to hang themselves.
It is never too late to learn or pass on examination. Look at Fathima Zahara, a widow who had will power and strength of confidence and determination.
The “Back to school” campaign of DK Talent Research Foundation, enabled Zahara to complete her 10th standard (SSLC) successfully in 2011, only 20 years after she had left school, to make a home.
She is from Ukkuda near Deralakatte (Mangalore Tq). Zahara was a beedi-roller after she left school at 7th standard and lost her father. She got married in 2001, but lost her husband during her third pregnancy. It was very difficult to look after family at that movement.
Her brothers helped her to run the family budget. ‘Al Amin’ with a branch in Kinya, helped her to study at high school they had opened. She passed SSLC in 2nd class.
