Mangalore: Unknown thieves on the night of Sunday(September 25), broke open a jewellery shop on Raghavendra Mutt Road, near old Flower Market, and decamped with 15Kgs of silver materials valued at Rs8 lacs, kept in a showcase in the shop. The looters gained a back-door entry to Renuka Jewellers.
The complaint for a theft case was booked at the Bunder(north) police station on Monday(September 26), by Dattu Nikam, owner of the looted shop, which has a workshop at its back.
Fortunately, some gold and golden ornaments kept securely in a locker, were not touched by the thieves in a hurry at night. Police are investigating.
