New Delhi: Reports say a building has collapse in Chandni Mahal area, opposite Jama Masjid area in New Delhi.
At least 18 people have been pulled out so far from under the debris, reports say. Rescuers believe few more people are still trapped.
Four bodies have so far been taken out of the debris, the reports say.
According to local MLA Shoib Iqbal, an illegal construction next door may have caused the building collapse.
“The building, number 833, was heritage building, next to the police station. I had called the Station House Officer (SHO) this Sunday telling him that there is illegal construction going on. Unfortunately, due to digging, the building has collapsed leading to 20-25 people trapped,” said Mr Iqbal.
