Mangalore: In observance of World Heart Day, the Unity Health Complex, premier hospital and health care centre organized a Free Heart Check-up for Army & Defence personnel and Senior citizens from September 29, Thursday to October 10, 2011.
Speaking after inaugurating the formal function of World Heart Day held at Unity hospital premises, Mangalore City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the hospital has done a good job by organizing a free camp for defense personnel’s, since they are the people who give their life to the country.
The police officials work day and night and do not get time to go to hospital for health check-up hence this check up will benefit them in large. One must not ignore the heart related disease and take proper precautionary step, he said.
No matter however fit a person may be, but the frequent detection and medication must be done, he added.
Dr CP Habeeb Rahman, chairman of Unity Care and Health Services pvt Ltd, presided over the function and said that the free camp is being organized for the people for their sacrifice rendered to the society.
Heart plays an important role in a person’s life and speech, since heart handles soft emotions of a person.
Heart is beyond the medical form and in these three decades, many innovative therapies have been practiced on patients, he added.
Dr Paul Vargheese, chief cardiologist, Unity Care conveyed the significance of the day.
