Gandhinagar: Holy cow killers for eating beef will be punished not by six months’ jail, but by a longer period extending to seven years now, if a bill moved in Gujerat legislature becomes an Act soon by unanimous acceptance. The Congress party in opposition also has subscribed to the passage of this bill.
Any vehicle that illegally carries the cattle huddled in it to a slaughter-house, or found carrying beef to the market could be seized until the case is disposed of, under this Act.
Three years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs.25000 can be charged under the bill passed on September 28 in the Assembly, against any person killing a cow or storing beef after such slaughter, and/or carrying cattle in a vehicle to sell in a market for disposal.
