Mangalore : Several social, political, and religious leaders offered floral tributes to portraits and statues of the Mahatma and celebrated the 142nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in the city on October 2, Sunday.

As a part of the celebration, the Mangalore City Corporation, the National Service Scheme of Mangalore University, and Rotaract Club Mangalore jointly organized an anti narcotics and anti corruption awareness rally.

District information officer Rohini K inaugurated the rally near PVS Circle at 8:30 a.m. A large number of students participated in this march, which concluded in front of the Mangalore City Corporation building.

Mayor Praveen Anchan, garlanded the statue of the Mahatma.
