Mnagalore: Rosario High School remembered Mahatma Gandhi with a special programme on religious harmony on Gandhi Jayanthi day at October.2 which is a declared National holiday out of 3 such.
Headmaster Aloysius D’Souza presided. Three religions represented at the memorial meeting.
Swami Jithakamananda of Sri Ramakrishna Mission represented the Hindu religion. Maulana Abdul Azeez (Muslim) and Rosario lecturer Fr.Rocky D.Souza (Christian) were the other chief guests. Teacher Elizabeth Fernandes welcomed and introduced the dignitaries.
The guests lit a lamp and offered flowers in homage to Gandhiji. Swami Jithakamananda referred to values of truth, non-violence, peace and sacrifice in a troubled modern era. Moulana Aziz spoke of Gandhiji’s great soul and his dedication and discipline. Fr.D’Souza asked students to emulate Gandhian principle and understand them better, as he was a man of the country. The Headmaster Aloysius D’Souza called upon students to be “great souls” when they grew up.
Laveena teacher compared and Claudia Teacher thanked. Students sang patriotic songs on the occasion.
