Mangalore : In order to receive with the information and knowledge on the compensation and facilities given by the government and agencies for the families of air crash victims, the Mangalore Air Crash Victims’ Families Association has been formed, said Mohammed Beary, president of the association.
He was speaking at the press meet held at press club on July 14, Wednesday. Heb also said that the association has been registered on July 8 according to society act, which comprises of 13 members and two residential legal counselors.
The aim of the association is to get the compensation to be received according to the law, to the families of victims as soon as possible. The Karnataka state government has not given the compensation to the Kerala victims, because they received compensation from Kerala government. Hence he urged the Karnataka government to give the compensation to Kerala victims, since the incident took place in Karnataka.
He also said that, minister Praful Patel visit will Mangalore and conduct the condolence meeting for victims and organize thanks giving for the authorities for their help at TMA Pai Convention Hall on July 27, Tuesday.
Dr Jayasimha Shetty, secretary of the association, said that, the authorities have handed over the belongings to around 46 families and the belongings like gold to the families have been given very less. The Air India must exhibit victims gold and let the families to identify their belongings.
The authority must not give the compensation for the victims families based on their income and must give according Montreal act, because 80 percent of victims are poor and belonged to the labour class who do not have income certificate.
If the foreign agencies do not help the victims family in giving compensation, then the families will not depend on them and will fight through association, he said.
