Bangalore: We regret to announce the passing away of Dr. Mathur Krishnamoorthy, Director of Bangalore Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan in a private hospital today in the morning. He was suffering from breathing difficulties.

Mathur comes from a very poor but learned family of Brahmins, born in Mathur Village in Shimoga district on 8th August, 1928. He received ‘Padmashree’ as a recognition for his lectures on TV in 2009 on Kumara Vyasa Bharatha  which were appreciated by a large audience. Mathur has served Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan as director in London for many years, before returning to India and Bangalore. His services to Kannada are immense. His loss has been felt by several eminent personalities in educational field and public life.

He started many schools under the auspices of Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan to spread authentic Indian way of education to deserving children. May his soul attain divine feet.
