Bangalore : In a major breakthrough, the CID sleuths have unearthed fraud in Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) for Medical Course in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences for the academic year 2011-12 and arrested 17 people, including several employees of the University, DGP (Intelligence) Shankar Bidri said.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said following allegations about malpractice and rank secured students approaching the High Court which directed a thorough investigation, the case was taken up for investigation at Bellary Centre of the Test at Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences.
He said during the search, the CID team seized 9 laptops, 25 computer hard-disks, 20 pen drives and 28 mobile phone sets.
The seized items contained a huge volume of data amounting to several terrabytes.
All the information available in the seized material was scanned and subjected to forensic analysis and it was found to be containing incriminating materials like question papers, key answer sheets, correspondence relating to seat allocation and shuffling patterns of the questions papers.
It was also noticed the accused had used multiple number of mobile phones and SIM cards for commission of the offences.
