Bangalore: After Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde left in August 2011, Completing his term of office, appointee Justice Shivaraj V. Patil resigned within a month on land-grab history, and now, Justice S.R. Bannurmath only a day after his appointment on Wednesday, faces a similar charge of grabbing land meant for a public property, ignoring by laws, to the extent of 6600 sq.feet. the by-laws disqualify judges from securing such plots to be used for public purposes only, as per 1959 Act for Housing Cooperatives.
Judge Bannurmath got the plot sanctioned(against law) only after he took over as a judge of karnataka high Court, it is stated in legal circles. Thus, it is unlikely that he will be suitable to hold the job of a state Lokayukta.
