Mangalore : Dakshina Kannada District Madrasa Management Committee, Dakshina Kannada District Samasta Madrasa Teachers Association, SKSSF Dakshina Kannada district committee and Madrasa Hitarakshana Samiti jointly staged protest in front of the DC office on Saturday, November 19, against the proposed government interference in the administration of the madrasas (schools of Islamic religious teaching).
Addressing the protestors, Hyder Dharimi Kalladka in his main speech said that running of madrasas is a religious and constitutional right of Muslims and interference in its affairs is bound to anger the Muslim community at large.
He said that the protest is being held send a send a message to the government that Muslims will not allow their right of religion to be compromised at any cost.
Muffathish Umar Dharimi, Salmar read the memorandum report which will be submitted to the DC.
Sirajuddin Faizi, managing secretary of Bappalige SKSSF delivered the introductory speech.
T M Shaheed Sullia said that when Veerappa Moily became the chief minister of the state, there were many social developmental projects in favour of minorities and also established Shaadi Mahal and other work, but as the next Chief Ministers took charge, there were less importance given for the development. When the BJP government came into the power they started interfering in the madarasa administration too, which is not accepted.
Criticizing Anwar Manipady, minorities’ commission chairman, he said that he the name and reputation gained for him in the state has made him to forget his responsibility towards the madarasa education.
Today the Masjid and the Dargahs lack facilities which is necessary since even to present day 35,000 students are given madarasa education in various dargahs.
All teachers from madrasas of the district, members of administrative committees, parents and students attending the madrasas participated in the protest.
Majeed Suralpady, Abdul Khadhir Dharimi Kukkila, Azeez Dharimi Kallega and others participated as the chief speakers.
Salim Handel, leader of Hitarakshana Vedike welcomed the gathering and guests. Abbas Dharimi, Kelinja, SKSSF president presided over the protest.
Dakshina Kannada District Madarasa Management Committee president I Moidinabba Haji, Madrasa teachers’ association president Latif Darimi Renjadi and SKSSF president K L Umar Darimi Pattori and others were present.
