Mangalore : The sand bags and rocks have been kept near the sea shore as a temporary measure to prevent sea erosion, said District in charge Minister Krishna J Palemar visiting Sasihitlu beach to check the sea erosion problem on July 18, Sunday.
He also said that, the sum of Rs 911 crore to be received from the ADB bank will be used for constructing a seawall in order to find a permanent solution for sea erosion.
According to the plan, the first phase of the project will commence from Ullal on November 1 and will be finish by 2012. While the second and third phases are expected to finish by 2014 and 2018 respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, president of DK Mogaveera Yuva Vedike, Shobendra Sasihitlu, said that after the permanent solution, the small boat owners can go out for fishing even in rainy season.
