Mangalore : The best silk products from all over the country will be showcased at Silk Mark Expo 2011 at Karavali Utsava Grounds held from Nov 29 to Dec 4.
Speaking at the press meet held at Ladies Club on Nov 26 Saturday, G. Lokanathan, the assistant director of the Central Silk Board, said that the expo promotes fusion labels and that the Silk Mark tag, promoted by the Silk Mark Organization of India of the Union Ministry of Textiles, will be attached to the sari as a mark of its purity and originality.
The expo will display traditional saris such as Banarasi, Kanjeevaram, Thanchoi, Bandhni, Muga, Bomkai, Tussar, Muga, Chanderi, Gadwal, Khatan Silk, Kora Silk, Raw Silk, and others.
The expo will feature a lecture on breeding silk worms, sewing, silk conservation, weaving, and others, he said.
