Mangalore : As a part of World Aids Day, Dr. M. V. Shetty College of Social Work organized the HIV/AIDS Awareness Week 2011 on the premises of Government Wenlock Hospital on December 1, Thursday.
Dr. Saroja, the RMO of Wenlock Hospital inaugurated the HIV/AIDS Awareness Week 2011.
The students performed a street play to create AIDS awareness among the public.
Dr. Ranjith Shetty, the trustee of Dr. M. V. Shetty Memorial Trust, presided over the event and said that AIDS/HIV is a disease which can be controlled only through awareness.
Harshavardhana Shetty, the lecturer of Dr. M. V. Shetty College of Social Work, and Prof. Suma S. Rai, the principal of Dr. M. V. Shetty College of Social Work, were also present.
The awareness week will comprise a wide range of programs and will conclude on Dec 5 with the valedictory ceremony which will be held at Sneha Sadan in Kinnikambala in Mangalore.
