Mangalore : widely acclaimed Tenku Tittu artiste Balipa Narayana Bhagavatha was conferred with the Yakshagana Kala Nidhi Award sponsored by Delhi-based Academy of Tenku Tittu Yakshagana (ATTY) at Town Hall on Dec 6 Tuesday
The award comprised a citatione, peta, shawl, a memento, and Rs. 15,000.
After receiving the honour, Balipa Narayana Bhagavatha regretted for the decreasing standard of the traditional forms in Yakshagana and said that it is necessary to create awareness among the youths and promote it in schools and colleges for its revival.
He thanked ATTY for recognizing his contribution to the field of art.
Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy chairman M. L. Samaga; Ajit Kumar Hegde, commissioner of the Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA); Prasad Kumar Shetty, the resident director of Hotel Goldfinch; and Saravu Krishna Bhat and Vidya Kolyur, the directors of ATTY, were also present.
