Mangalore : The CPI(M) organized a public meet as a part of 20th Dakshina Kannada district convention at Nehru Maidan on December 13, Tuesday.
Participating as the chief speaker Com VJK Nair, state secretary of CPI(M) today we cannot find the industrial growth in the country but only can find financial growth and this is because of foreign capitalism.
Now the central Government is busy working to implement Foreign Direct Investment in the retail marketing, in order to create problems to the small markets and street vendors.
Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa came into power with the assurance to provide 35 kgs of rice at Rs 2, but after coming into power he said that he will implement it before completing his term and had to leave it in the middle and now the people has to leave the hope on this promise.
There is one crore ration card in the state, if they give rice Rs 1 also, they will have to lose the amount of Rs 35 crore from government fund per month, but they happily give away crores of Rs to the swamijis and mutts, he said.
Another main speaker G N Nagaraj, state secretary said that today there is price hike in gold, food and petrol day by day and making difficult for the people to get their basic necessity.
Along with the problem of price hike and unemployment, there is also far of terrorism and communalism in the country increasing. BJP and Congress are the two faces of the corrupt country.
Speaking on the food security act of the country, he said that there are 6 crore ton of rice and wheat in the country’s godown as a stock which is eaten up by the ants and worms, but the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi is not willing to give it to the people. If they both agree to release 10 lakh ton of rice and wheat to the people in the 15 days, then the price of the commodities will drastically decrease, he said.
The red volunteers from Ullal, Gurupur, Moodbidri, Belthangadi, Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia of CPI (M) Dakshina Kannada district committee carried out a route march from Jyothi Circle to Nehru Maidan.
President of the convention Comrade B Madhava, secretary of CPI(M) DK District Committee welcomed the gathering and guests. Treasurer Vasanth Achary read the aim of the convention.
Com K R Shriyan, member of CPI(M) state committee and Com K Varadarajan, member of CPI(M) Polite Bureau also participated as the chief speaker.
CPI(M) leaders like president Com J Balakrishna Shetty, general secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal, Krishnappa Salian, Krishnappa Konchady, Sadashivdas, Padmavathi Shetty, BM Bhat, K Yadav Shetty and others were present.
