New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday met directors of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the Lokpal issue, ahead of the crucial all-party meeting.
The CBI has raised some concerns on the proposed Lokpal bill, media reports said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting between the allies of the Congress in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) that sought to iron out differences between members of the governing coalition on the Lokpal issue.
The all-party meeting on Wednesday is apparently an effort to ensure a smooth processing of the Bill, critical to offset a warning by 74-year-old Hazare to start a hunger strike if it is not enacted by December.
The self-styled Gandhian activist, who, backed by the IAC, organised two hunger strike campaigns this year in April and August, has amassed the support of a wide section the middle class fed up with government inefficiency and corruption. (IBNS)
