Manglalore: An electrical mishap burst into a fire at Kadri police station on Wednesday morning, causing heavy damage and loss to equipments.
The computer room on first floor and all electronic gadgets had been switched off on previous night. Yet, on Wednessday morning, constable Gowar noticed a smoke on first floor and found that the computer was fully burnt, along with a monitor, printer, 3 tables and a chair.
A scanner kept separately was safe, a little away. Gowar called the fire brigade immediately to douse the fires.
The loss was upto Rs.70,000 with walls of the room turned black by smoke and fire.
ACP G.V. Subrahmanya told press reporters that incident took place around 9 AM when no one was on the first floor.
The loss would have been more if the fire had occurred on Tuesday night, he added.
The police station, obviously, had no gurads, or safety checking constables, near computer equipments
