Mangalore: Allan Machado Prabhu, an author whose latest book on “Shades within Shadows” was released, was feted at St. Aloysius’ College on Friday with the release of his work in the presence of about 80 admirers. The book was published by CASK, a Catholic Association that recently had a brush with Justice M.F. Saldanha.

Ms. Latha kini, President of KCCI presided. She commended the author for his passion to create a book on minority or a limited section of human society in India, with a rich culture.

Alan had a child-like enthusiasm to see the blooming of good qualities in his society, she said.

Dr. William D’silva, a Konkani Scholar, introduced the author and described how the book related to 18th Century but also connected present day society too in problems and aspirations. The author’s earlier book called “Saraswathi’s children” had a food readership. The narrative is of a different kind in essence as fiction, the critic observed. He and Rina Mascarenhas read out chapters from the book. The author later joined in it.
