Mangalore: The Passport office is still not functioning well and three are red-tape delays over issue of valid passports, even under Tatkal (immediate issue) plan for those who applied to obtain quick passport.
There are several such persons here who had to change the dates of booked travel abroad, because there was no passport on hand on a scheduled date.
The Bangalore regional passport office senior officers have been disclosed that under Speed post system of Indian Postal Department, certain technical hurdles have created this delay problem in PPO.
The officials locally have admitted that the persons who have paid even extra charges to get their passports urgently, have not received their passports since Tuesday (Dec 13).
The problem has been cleared on Thursday. The passports are getting dispatched (by post). For the early disposal of pending passports, additional personnel have been taken to finish the work. The entire dispatch work may take another 3 days. But next Wednesday, all pending passports will reach the applicants, an official said. In future, for any delay or other matter, the concerned office shall be told to furnish information through local dailies, said the passport issuing authorities.
