Mangalore : Dr Balasubramaniam, social worker and vigilance director of former Lokayukta inaugurated the launching ceremony of the Dakshina Kannada Chapter of Youth Against Corruption (YAC) at Shivarama Karanth Sabha Bhavan of University College on December 21, Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion he said that if the discussion regarding the appointment of new Lokayukta continues further between DV Sadananda Gowda and Governor H R Bhardwaj, then the Lokayukta institution itself will close down.
He also said that the movement against corruption was first started by the small group of Bangalore citizen and moved forward. The fight between the CM and the Governor has made the Lokayukta headless.
The Lokayukta in the state is said to be the powerful compared to 12 states, but at the same time Karnataka is said to be the most corrupt state, he added.
He said that Lokpal Bill is the weakest bill introduced by the central government, and will have the power only to supervise corruption cases but CBI will carry out the entire inquiry process
Deviprasad Shetty, convener of YAC delivered the introductory speech. YAC state co-convenor M K Suvrath Kumar presided.
