Mangalore: Jesus Christ or Infant Jesus was born in a manger at midnight to Mary, his mother and god, his father. He is known as son of God, not even an Avatar. The humble nativity of this great soul is celebrated on January 24 at midnight mass in all Christian churches and 25th is declared as a holiday for celebration by eating cakes, snacks (Kuswar), and home-made dishes in every home, lighted with a Xmas Tree in colored bulbs and candles on the verandah or the courtyard, with a ghetto or crib on show displaying christ’s birth in the manager, with angels singing carol songs and 3 kings bringing gifts from Asia to the feet of the divine baby.
Christ becomes a messenger of God at 30, and not before, when he is known only as Jesus (Yesu). His Ministration of the poor and downtrodden takes place for only 3 years, and he is crucified as per Will of God, his father, at Golgotha.
The Christmas season begins in December month and lasts till the new year in cold conditions. The mid-night Mass tests the faith of Christmas who pray at silent, deep an dark night for the vision of Jesus.
Devout Christian make a beeline to pray at Bethlehem, in the church of Nativity. Others wait for pope’s message, and listen to local Bishop’s sermons on Dec 24 night. 25th is holiday.
Mangalorean catholics attend several churches. Protestants go to the Anglican Churches in City. There are Methodists, seventh day advertists, and church of South, India followers. There are innumerous divisions among Christians, mostly dominated by Roman church and Anglican Protestant church.
All of them pay their tributes to the self-sacrifice of the Christ with goodwill and repentance for their misdeeds.
Christmas is a time for sharing and giving goodies/gifts to the less fortunate. Here is Santa Claus entry. It is 2000 years since the advent of Christ, but the zeal of a local Christian in his faith and acts is undiminished.
Apart from the usual practices (sing, attend church, listen to sermon share gifts and meet friends around), they need something much more.
Entire family affairs should spill into a social celebration in making snacks, cakes and eating them. (Kidiyo, Guliyo, Nevriyo and so on).

Christmas are in minority and they need to unite to celebrate their Day of Christmas and New Year with malice towards none and Goodwill towards all. Christmas Cribs are seen in many public places, but no competitions in decorating stars and cribs.
The most beautiful Christmas Tree, crib, cake, kuswar and star santa claus presents, besides house decoration with lighted (colour) trees in city belong to all Christians.
