Kasaragod: A patient at the local Government was given a penicilin injection on his admission and he died on Friday, leading to the suspension of Dr. Sushil and a nurse, Remya.
Deputy DMO Vimalraj issued the orders of suspension on two, following the death of patient Mohd. Sharif(38), a resident of Badiyadka Village. The death took place quickly, at 2-30 PM after the injection was given.
Sharif was suffering from a rheumatic heart disease, official sources said. A group of SSF members took out a protest march to Hospital premises for alleged dereliction of duty by the doctor and nurse together.
Hospital authorities defended their treatment by a test dose, as expected by patient’s relatives.
Kasaragod MLA Nellikunnu sought compensation from the Government to the relatives of the deceased.
