Bantwal: Wall painters in cities like Mangalore and Bangalore can bring alive what they try to portray, animals/birds/scenes/people. But several artists come under one roof for 5 days, each one can create masterpieces with a coloured brush or paints.
Here in Sanchayagiri, 400 years of Vibrant history is getting unfolded, as if it is happening this year. The ‘Drushti-Srishti’ national level painting camp is creating Rani Abbakka and her times in waves during the British domination, as if the scenes are real.
The present-day painters are busy re-creating pages of colonial history during Rani’s days. There are scenes of farewell to merchant ships from Ullal to the Arabian sea, a naval war between Portuguese colonizers and Abbakka’s heroes, Kidnapping of Abbakka by husband Laxman Bangarasa’s forces, Polali deity worshipped by Rani, overseeing constructions at royal household, looking at enemy (naval) ships approaching local seashore for attach, Abbakka on death bed, Italian Pietro visiting her, repairs to Ullal fort and many other historical episodes are getting painted now.
Tulunad cultural/traditional life is on view like Kambala/Aati kalanja.
The five-day painters’ camp is coordinated by N.S. Pattar and G. Kanda
