Mangalore: It is alleged by parents of Tanuja(37) that she died on Monday night(December 26) after being admitted 10 days ago with serious burn injuries, because of medical negligence , at SCS Hospital in city.
Tanuja was at her mother’s house on December 16, and her clothes caught fire when she was putting rice in boiling water for cooking, and burnt her legs badly.
The parents rushed her to SCS hospital, and paid Rs1,000 to the hospital authorities for care-taking.
Tanuja had 25% burns only. Her sister-in-law paid a fee of Rs5,000 to get Tanuja into Intensive Care Unit quickly.
After 4 days there, she was moved to a general ward, says a relative. A surgery was done for growth of new skin, but it created some physical complications and suffering to the patient.
When she was again rushed to ICU, she died, failing to respond to her treatment in agony.
Dr. Sathish Bhat told media people that relatives were unhappy, but there was no medical negligence, he explained.
