Mangalore: ‘Star of India’ award winning ball-badminton Yester year player B.N. Meera, released 3 sets of national tri-colour ballons at Vidyagiri in Moodabidri on Tuesday, to inaugurate an All India Inter-University Ball badminton Women’s championship, hosted by Mangalore University along with Alvas College in Tow, with the participation of players from as many as 70 universities across India here for 4 days.
Prof. T.C.S. Murthy hoisted the MU Flag, MLA Abhaya Chandra Jain unfurled the inter-unity flags, and Dr. M. Mohan Alva raised the college flag of AEF, to declare the massive tournament open.
Cultural troupes of Tulunadu, welcomed the guests and participants, to the 4-day matches held on 6 courts.
Prof. Murthy (MU vice-chancellor) referred to extra-curricular activities as beneficial to students, to round off their personality in and out.
Current champion, Annamalai University from Tamil Nadu, is among the 70 teams in the sports show.
