Mangalore : The MCC and Gandhinagara Park Trust will inaugurate the park for special children ‘Chili Pili’ at the Gandhi Park on Dec 30, Saturday at 9.30 am.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Dec 28, Wednesday MCC commissioner Harish Kumar said that the park has been established after an autistic child who was advised to be brought to the park for socializing was mistaken to be a mad child by an adult and others.
He also said that the Gandhi park is equipped with play items all children including 12 swings, rope bridge, 3 fountains, 2 merry go rounds, 1 sea saw, jungle jim, 2 slides, A, B climbers and two adult swings.
Whereas Chilipili is equipped with one slide, 3 swings, 1 merry go rounds, one fountain, one rope climber, one tire tunnel, one parallel bar, 1 sea saw and one basket ball board spent at the cost of Rs 20 lakhs and the amount of Rs 5 lakhs has been given by private donors, he added.
Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak said that the park will be appointed with a lady care taker and the timings for ‘Chilipili’ will be from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm and Monday will be a holiday and incase any schools getting children on Monday can inform in advance and the arrangement to open the park will be held. The park will have no entrance fee.
