Sindagi: A Pakistan Flag was hoisted on the Mini-Vidhana Soudha flagpole on January 1, Sunday, by some mischief-mongers turned anti-social elements at night, which incited pro-Hindu local organizations to condemn the act and call for town (Sindagi) closure. There is tense situation in the whole town and Hindu organizations/activists have closed down and preliminary reports indicate good response for market closure as a retaliatory move to the anti-national act.
But the police resorted to cane charge on Sunday, demanding immediate arrest of peace-violators. The shops remained closed also for police action on Sunday, and weekly shandy (open market) was suspended.
The Paksitan flag had been planted in Tahsildar’s office compound. The flag was burnt by protestors at the Tahsildar’s premised later on. But both New year Day and Monday are observed as ‘bundh’ days.
