Mangalore: The annual (School) Day of Roman Catherine School for the Blind was observed on Wednesday here, at the school grounds in city. It was 202nd birth anniversary of Louis Braille, who invented a language by touch, for the blind persons, known as the Braille.
Speaking to the children, Canara Bank senior manager in Founder’s branch of Dongerkery, Shivananda Bhandary said that the school was no different from any other school and he could not make out that it was special for visually challenged kids.
It school had started with just 2 students, he noted, but had 28 students now. He promised all co-operations from his Bank for the progress of this unique school. He lauded the management efforts to run such a school.
Principal Ms.Calistus D’Souza presented an annual report and stated that the Government had given permission to extend the school up to 10th standard, in High School. The lady principal praised Louis Braille for the script he made popular in 19th century, when things were bad for visually impaired children.
Chair person of the educational Trust, Carmin Bosseni Lobo was present on the occasion.
