Udupi: A free Ambulance service made its regular runs in town on Friday, after being dedicated to public with blessings from Paryaya Shiroor Math Swami Laxmivara Tirtha. The van was donated by Nithyananda Volakadu, general secretary of Udupi district civilian Committee, and raised by generous contributions from Krishnamurthy Acharya Kinnimulki, and several others. Udupi Block Congress chief Pramod Madhwaraj was present on the Occasion, as a donor.

Dy SP Jayanth Shetty, Inspector Girish and local leaders also attended the ceremony on Saturday.

The Ambulance is available on calling 9164901111, to the needs of people in Udupi, Malpe, Manipal, and Udyavara areas, the Udupi District Civilian Committee informed.
